xx,

Laine

Hey, K'DARA Haus.

I'm Laine, and welcome to La Jolla, California.

On today's menu, we're starting with a handcrafted strawberry matcha from Immersion Café, followed by a little fresh air and journaling at La Jolla Cove. Then we're wandering through one of my favorite thrift shops before finishing the day with this week's Haus Picks and Market Finds from one of our favorite San Diego farmers markets.

Along the way, I'll share my signature scent pairing, a few places that continue to inspire me, and the little details that always bring me back. Come spend the day with me.

First Pour

Immersion Café

We're starting the morning at Immersion Café. It's one of those places that immediately slows you down. The space is beautifully designed. Small, thoughtfully curated, and quietly confident. From the music playing overhead to the way every drink is prepared, every detail feels intentional. You can tell there's genuine craftsmanship behind what they do, and that's something I'll always appreciate. Today's order is the handcrafted strawberry matcha. Everything is made from scratch, and you can taste the difference. Fresh, balanced, and just decadent enough without feeling overdone. It's also one of my favorite places to sit for a while, people-watch, and ease into the day before heading toward the coast.

My Signature Pairing

Before heading out this morning, I reached for my signature pairing.

Plant Moisturizer: Body Butter

scent: mahogany tonka + oud

There's something incredibly nostalgic about this scent. It's warm, layered, comforting, and quietly confident without ever feeling too heavy. It feels effortless. Familiar. Like something I've reached for a hundred times and somehow still look forward to wearing.

Plant Moisturizer: Face Oil

scent: unscented [naked plant]

My skin has always leaned acne-prone, so texture matters more to me than almost anything. After dealing with hormonal acne for years, I naturally gravitated toward lightweight moisturizers that absorb beautifully without feeling heavy or greasy. Unscented [naked plant] has become one of those products I never have to think twice about. It simply feels like me.

Fresh Air

La Jolla Cove

My next stop is almost always the ocean. La Jolla Cove has become one of those places I return to whenever I need a little perspective. I usually bring my journal, find a quiet place to sit, and spend a little time writing before heading back into the day. Fresh air has a way of clearing my thoughts. The rhythm of the waves reminds me to slow down. Even twenty minutes here changes the pace of the rest of my day.

A colony of seabirds stands on a rocky cliff as waves crash into the coast.

Found Along the Way

Bridge Thrift

I've always loved finding pieces that already have a story. Some of my favorite things weren't bought brand new. They're thoughtfully made, well cared for, and ready for another chapter. I naturally gravitate toward linen, cotton, quality craftsmanship, timeless silhouettes, and beautiful materials that age gracefully. For me, thrifting has never been about finding more. It's about finding better.

Haus Pick this Week

One of my favorite parts of every market weekend is discovering makers who genuinely care about what they create.

These are a few things that came home with me this week.

  • Fourth-generation raw honey from a local family farm.

  • Seasonal peaches from one of our favorite growers.

  • Fresh eucalyptus that instantly filled the studio with the scent of summer.

Vendor names coming soon.

Sometimes the smallest finds become the ones you remember most.
